Knowledge assistant
How a law firm made 14 years of past matters searchable in plain English, with sources.
Client
Timeline
2-week audit, 6-week build
Tools
SharePoint, iManage, Microsoft Teams, an LLM agent

The problem
Associates spent hours hunting through old matters for a clause or an argument the firm had already used.
Knowledge lived in folders, email threads and the memory of senior partners. Searching by keyword missed anything worded differently, and the same research was redone again and again.
What we built
An assistant in Teams that answers questions about past matters in plain English and links to the exact documents it used.
It only searches documents each person already has access to, never invents a source and says clearly when it can't find an answer. Partners review a sample of answers each week.
Before
Ask a colleague → search folders by keyword → open dozens of documents → skim for the clause → repeat. Often half a day.
After
Ask the assistant in Teams → get a short answer with links to the source documents → open the one that matters. A few seconds.
To an answer with sources
Of matters searchable
Paid back in
“Our juniors find the precedent in seconds, and because every answer links to the source, partners actually trust it.”
